CMW Reminders and such….

Hendrickx-Love Never Melts, 16X20, $300, Watercolor

*This Monday, December 12th we meet for our Christmas Card Exchange Potluck meeting at 5 pm (NOTE THIS IS A TIME CHANGE FROM PREVIOUS MEETINGS—5:00) at Atonement Lutheran Church in St. Cloud. Bring an original Christmas card you have created to exchange with one of the other artists and a potluck dish to share. Beverages (coffee, tea and water) will be provided.

*Monday evening you will have an opportunity to renew your membership dues for 2023 if you haven’t already done so. Membership renewals are due by December 31st to Treasurer Ralph Carpenter. You can renew membership at the December meeting by filling out the membership form and paying dues of $30. Another option is to renew through our CMW website. Click on this link to go directly to the renewal page: https://centralmnwatercolorists.org/member-signup-or-renewal/

*Monday a sign up sheet will be available for the Spring Retreat. (THIS IS A REALLY FUN EVENT) CMW has the reservation made for our annual painting retreat at Riverside Inn in Cold Spring for May 1st through the 4th. Fourteen rooms have been reserved. The payment for our rooms allows us to use the large conference room for our painting activities. There is a warm swimming pool and sauna for us to enjoy in a tropical-themed room and unique décor in the motel rooms. A complimentary breakfast is included for each morning during the retreat. There is a kitchen and refrigerator adjacent to the conference room and microwaves and mini refrigerators in each room. There are multiple places to eat out, as well. If you want a room by yourself, the cost is $260. If you share a room, the cost is $210 each. These room rates give us free use of the conference room if we have a total of ten rooms reserved. The sign-up sheet will be available again at the December meeting. We ask for a down payment of half the cost of your room by the February meeting and the balance by the April meeting. We have had a wonderful time her each year and hope that you will join us. If you have any questions, contact Pat Spence by email at gpdspence@gmail.com. Deposits can be made with Ralph Carpenter.

*Remember that CMW artists meet every Thursday afternoon at the Sartell Community Center to paint as a group. It’s a great time to catch up with one another and see other’s paintings in progress. It’s a very bright and lovely space…think about it especially this winter…it will be healthy to join in and keep the winter blues away! The group meets from 12:30 to 4 or until whatever time works for you!

*Also, remember that if you would like to show your art at the Sartell Community Center, please contact Ann Doyscher-Domres at 320-238-7324. Kerry Kupferschmidt has the current display.

*There is no CMW meeting in January. Use that time to paint your President’s Challenge…which will be announced at the December 14th meeting by our new co-chair Presidents.

*REMEMBER to thank Kerry Kupferschmidt and Pat Spence for their excellent service and dedication serving on the CMW Board. Kerry’s term as our President and Pat’s as our Secretary expire the end of this year. Thank you both!

*As of January 1, 2023, Diane Runberg and Arlette Twedt take over as co-chair Presidents and Linda Addicott as Secretary. We want to express a huge thank you to the three of you! Plus thank you goes out to Sandra Theis, Vice President; Ralph Carpenter, Treasurer; and Paula Tift, Social Media Coordinator for their continued service through 2023!!!

*Remember to let family and friends know about our current show at the St. Cloud Hospital which will display through December 30th! One painting “Vivienne” by Mary Homan unfortunately did not make it to the Hospital to be part of the show because of inclement weather. It still remains on the website, however, to enjoy. The featured image on this page–painting by Anita Hendrickx–is one of the paintings on display at the St. Cloud Hospital.
