My favorite medium is watercolor that allows me to explore the wonders of transparency.

Artist Statement: I became interested in painting when I saw a program on Public Television that was demonstrating painting with acrylics. I ordered the kit and have been painting ever since. My favorite medium is watercolor that allows me to explore the wonders of transparency. I enjoy painting flowers, birds, animals and nature scenes. I winter in Arizona and have grown to appreciate the beauty of the desert.
I love to take art classes and learn all the various techniques that each instructor has to offer. My first watercolor class was from Dan Mondloch at Michaels in St Cloud MN. I was so nervous but Dan was so easy-going and set my mind at ease. I took classes from Rose Eden and Karen Knutson  and later received instruction from Linda Kemp (a master of negative painting) and Lian Quan Zhen. More recently I went to Dillmans in Wisconsin and enjoyed a weeklong class from Arleta Pech. I also enjoy watching videos on YouTube; most notably Brenda Swenson.

Affiliations/Achievements: I belong to Artists of MN, Central Minnesota Watercolorists, and Sun City Grand Art Club in Arizona.  I enjoy the experience of sharing ideas with fellow painters twice per week at painting groups at Whitney Senior Center.  I have taken many workshops to help me continue to grow and learn. I have illustrated a children’s book, Edgar the Near-Sighted Eagle and have displayed my work at the Paramount, Whitney Center, US Bank, Falcon Bank, and the St Cloud Library.  I have also exhibited at Centracare and St. Cloud Hospital.  I have exhibited in Yuma, AZ and currently show paintings in Sun City Grand Art Gallery.
