Greetings, fellow artists,

There has been an abundance of color in Minnesota in recent weeks, so hopefully you’ve had time to capture it in paint. I’ve been back to the north shore and it was glorious there.

Our organization has been very busy in October, with plenty of activities for all of us to enjoy. I hope you had a chance to stop by the reception at Great River Arts on October 31st. The exhibit was beautiful, in my opinion, and an example of our members’ best work of late. In addition, we had a full house for Catherine Hearding’s challenging workshop about painting flowing and sparkling water effects. People enjoyed our plan to provide paint for everyone as well.

Patty Schmid was a very good demonstrator at our October meeting. She provided some good lessons on doing caricatures that will be valuable for anyone brave enough to try it. But the attendance was poor for a group of our size. I certainly hope that you’ll mark your calendar for David Smith’s demo, by Zoom, on November 9th. He will be painting a winter landscape. The plan is to have our business meeting followed by everyone gathering at the TV which will be connected to my laptop. Come for the adventure.

I expect we will soon have some feedback from the fall retreat. It’s a very popular activity, full of camaraderie and informal critiques. A couple final notes: We are having a Holiday sale at Atonement church on November 21st. We are calling it a $50 and under sale. Individual artist displays with many small items is the attraction.  And don’t forget the card exchange and potluck at our annual Christmas meeting December 14th!

Looking forward to seeing you soon,

Kerry
