Joy is being able to capture that natural beauty and spirit in a watercolor painting.

Artist Statement:
I look at art as part of our everyday life, including such things as a colorful sunrise over the lake, shadows on the snow, or a rushing waterfall. Joy is being able to capture that natural beauty and spirit in a watercolor painting. I am especially inspired by nature: flowers, birds, animals, and landscapes and am thrilled when another person enjoys my creations.

I had some beginning art classes in high school and college.  I enjoyed design and color classes as part of my degree program at the U of M. After teaching home economics in Staples, my husband and I owned a gift and bridal shop in Little Falls, where I also served as Mayor for nine years.

Design principles were required for selecting and displaying merchandise as well as visioning historic preservation of buildings, new developments, or scenic parks on the river. I always appreciated art, visiting galleries, and acquiring original artwork for my home. In 2013, after retiring from a more-than-full-time job, I was invited by a friend to a meeting of the Central MN Watercolorists and started taking classes from Sharon Nieters and Dan Mondloch. It was exciting to find a new passion. Since then, I have especially enjoyed workshops by David Smith, Rose Edin, and Andy Evansen as well as the monthly demos at our CMW meetings.

Achievements: I have participated in many shows/sales including the Paramount, St. Cloud Public Library, St. Cloud Hospital, CentraCare Plaza, Munsinger Gardens, and holiday open houses finding satisfaction in the sale of several paintings.

Please note that 5 X 7 inch greeting cards are available for sale for all my paintings.
